Joy Whiting ARPS has had a long-standing enthusiasm for photography. She is largely self-taught, but has been taking photographs for many years, which she feels has enriched her life considerably. Spending many hours on beaches with her camera, Joy has a particular fascination with the textures and repeating patterns which re-occur in the sand, sea and rocks - and the interaction between the natural elements. Always working outdoors on location, she uses a 'macro lense' to closely study details of sand patterns or a rock formation. Joy has found inspiration in natural settings from her travels around the UK and Southern Ireland. In 2000, Joy was encouraged to submit a panel of slides to the Royal Photographic Society (RPS), from which she gained an Associateship.
