Alan Redfern

Alan Redfern is an abstract painter based in Liverpool, having gained a degree in Fine Art at Liverpool John Moore's University. His paintings explore a deeper sense of reality, and the relationships and contrasts which are fundamental to his paintings. He often begins his work by randomly marking the empty canvas, and building the composition around it. After working on a painting for some time, the first mark is often erased and painted over. Alan won first place in the Swiss Life Purchase Award, sponsors of the European Capital of Culture.
