Ruth Garrett

Ruth Garrett is interested in creative photography, particularly 'photograms', which are produced without the use of a camera! Photograms were the earliest form of photography, created by placing objects onto light sensitive-paper and exposing them to light, to produce a 'silhouette' picture of the objects - this technique particularly appeals to Ruth because of its unpredictable nature. When creating photograms, the shape of the object and its translucency becomes important, therefore bottles, glass, plants and flowers are recurring themes in her work. Colour, texture and pattern are also important elements, which are strongly evident in the finished product.
