Sarah Riseborough

Sarah Riseborough is based in Northumberland, where she exhibits her work widely. She is self-taught, developing her own abstract style. Through her painting, Sarah explores different methods in search of some resolution or great discovery - comparing her artistic process to that of archaeology. She is fascinated by layers of living - in the soil, on walls of peeling paper and crumbling plaster. Pattern is also an important element in her work, and her paintings both reveal and conceal - creating a recurring sense of intrigue.
