Stephen Carr
The inspiration and subject matter for much of Steve Carr's work is the rural / agricultural landscape and environment. Derbyshire is made up of varied landscape including lush green agricultural land, windswept moorland, and sweeping dales and valleys. Each of these landscapes hold a different appeal for Steve. In his landscape paintings, he uses acrylic paint on paper or canvas to build up a textured surface, sometimes applying layer after layer until the work is resolved.
Steve has exhibited widely both locally and nationally, including a solo show at Derby Museum and Art Gallery. He was shortlisted for the Vickers Award in 2004/5.
