Emma Warboys graduated in Fine Art and Psychology at the University of Liverpool, and has since returned to her home town of Cambridge, where she has exhibited with various companies. Using acrylic and gloss paint on canvas, Emma has developed a painting technique which involves initially staining the canvas with numerous layers of transparent paint, then splashing, pouring and dripping numerous layers of paint spontaneously and instinctively. Strong, vibrant colours and bold motifs such as circles and curves are also an important element of her compositions. Emma's work is influenced by artists such as John Hoyland in his use of clear, brilliant primary and secondary colours, and Albert Irvin in the technical use of 'action painting', which creates a sense of energy and movement within the resulting paintings.
